The stress of daily life, between work and other commitments, easily distracts from taking care of oneself and especially when time is short, making healthy choices is not easy.
Yet, little is needed to stay fit: eating healthy, sleeping enough, doing regular physical activity help, day after day, to balance body and mind.
7 Step to stay fit
It is important to focus on simple actions in everyday life to take care of yourself and stay fit.
All it takes is a pinch of dedication, perseverance and willpower to follow these 7 step:
1. Thirty minutes of physical activity
Going for walks, going for a run, doing yoga or engaging in a sport you are passionate about will be fine. There is no need for exhausting workouts or drastic diets. Dedicating half an hour a day to movement will help you stay fit and maintain your ideal weight, but not only that; it will also improve blood pressure, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
2. Follow a balanced diet
It is important not only to purify yourself after a stressful period but it should be a rule to follow all year round. Experts recommend five meals a day, from breakfast to dinner, low in fat, rich in fruit, vegetables, legumes and whole grains. It is better to avoid skipping meals because fasting slows down the metabolism and tires it. At the table it is good to: limit the consumption of sugars and packaged products as much as possible, reduce the intake of salt, do not make too large portions and prefer wholemeal bread and pasta.
3. Drink at least 1.5 liters of water a day
Drinking regularly throughout the day, both in summer and winter, is essential for keeping the body hydrated. In addition to water, you can consume freshly squeezed juices, centrifuged juices and extracts.
4. Don’t smoke
Quitting smoking is the most important thing a smoker can do to feel better. After one year, the risk of cardiovascular disease is halved and after a few years it disappears completely.
5. Sleep well at Night
Most adults need seven to eight hours of sleep a night to be active throughout the day. In fact, resting poorly will automatically lead to giving up sports and training with the risk of feeling out of shape. Better to treat yourself to a light dinner that promotes sleep and avoid using smartphones and tablets before sleeping.
6. Walking
Taking a walk in nature or out in the sun helps our mood, increases self-esteem, reduces stress and makes us feel better. In fact, walking not only helps keep fit, but strengthens the entire musculoskeletal system and is a good habit for preventing certain pathologies such as cardiovascular diseases or diabetes.
7. Don’t give up on creativity
Learning to balance what you have to do with what you want to do will pay off with many benefits and a happier life. Carving out time every day to develop your passions stimulates well-being, removes stress and makes you more positive. Creativity also rhymes with curiosity: learning new things keeps you active and good for you in all phases of life.
